Genesee Country Village and Museum is a living history museum located in Mumford, NY, about 20 miles from Rochester. The heart of the museum is a 19th century village consisting of 68 restored and furnished buildings where interpreters dressed in period costume perform chores, arts, and crafts appropriate to the period. One of the most interesting exhibits is the only replica of the "Intrepid," a helium filled reconnaissance balloon used by the Union army during the Civil War. Weather permitting, visitors may "fly" in it for a small fee. Another unique exhibit is the only operating 19th century brewery in the US.
